"Stress Busters" is a fun and informal community CBT course to help adults understand and manage stress (an umbrella term for lots of feeling states). Men and women of all ages and cultures are most welcome to attend all courses, and for information and prevention if not support. The cost of our full 5-week Stress Busters community CBT course is usually around £65, or £50 discounted for those unemployed (prices can vary by venue). DAKtivist places may also be available.
Sept - Dec (more info to follow shortly; places limited, but allocated on a first-come basis)
* It is essential to register ahead (as above / by email) in order to ensure smooth running and to accommodate numbers as some venues can have limited space.
**Moodsters (those who have already completed the course once) are very welcome to join any Stress Busters course for a top-up or refresher
***We hire/use rooms in church or parish centres only where we have permission for all-faiths-and-none to attend.
If unsure about this investment, we would encourage you to attend the first session of "Stress Busters" as a no-obligation taster (usually £10/€15). If continuing, the remaining cost to secure your place can simply be paid either at the end of that 1st session, or else before / at the second session (usually 40-£65 for 5 weeks). We also run free community CBT courses throughout the year - see facebook / Twitter for updates.
Please Note: From Week 2 courses typically close to new entrants given the volume of material being covered
"Stress Cafe" is only open to Moodsters (those who have completed our Stress Busters course - see above, or had 1-1 CBT with us). Stress Cafe offers a golden opportunity:
NOTE: It is very important to register ahead or let us know you are coming by phone/email/our contact form given the reality of last-minute changes to venue or times. Also, any Moodster can join any Stress Cafe meetup anywhere, incl outside your region.

Walking is so important for emotional and physical health that we are planning a series of short, fun, and social walks through 2019 beginning in the Newry area (no cost). Do join us if you can - all ages, backgrounds and cultures are most welcome, incl children and dogs (though dogs must be under control at all times)! It is essential to call/email us to register ahead so we can discuss your preferences and keep you up-to-date re all things practical on-the-day, especially as there may be late or on-the-day changes.
For a safe and fun walk (30-60 mins) with peers, all walkers must:
Please note we are an informal peer group with no medical/trekking expertise, so do check in advance any health or other concerns with your GP, us, or others as appropriate.
Walking is simple, free, and very safe! It is one of the easiest ways to get active, lose weight, become healthier physically and emotionally, and have fun while making new friends (NHS). Walking can help build stamina, burn calories and make hearts healthier. Our countryside is also incredibly beautiful - don't miss out on these sights, scents and views - all while enjoying really great company!
Do join us Sat mornings in Bessbrook for a walk at 11.30am – hail, rain or shine (but not snow, ice or gales)! After meeting, we will walk in local areas given fantastic walks there in the Woods or other green areas. You will need to contact us though to get the exact meeting place, and any weather advice/updates!
Do join us Wed lunchtimes/afternoons to get walking in and around the awesome city of Newry – maybe the towpath, or the new greenway, or even a short walk in Sliabh Gullion Forest Park OR Kilbroney Park – areas of outstanding natural beauty. The group will decide what walk suits best for the following week – so do give your preferences. And contact us to register and join in the fun!
In addition to two formal walks each week, spontaneous walks will occur through the week with late notices given out on social media and/or our WhatsApp group. Do ask us about these walks, and/or stay tuned, especially on Facebook.
